It is an acute care hospital catering to acutely and critically ill patients, not a nursing home or sanitarium (for the chronically ill or those with long-standing illness). It offers not only therapeutic/curative but also diagnostic services. It provides health teaching, which is health-promotive, disease-preventive and rehabilitative.
